Graduation Requirements
Seabury Hall requires that all 9th thru 12th grade students be enrolled in physical education classes each season of the school year: Fall, Winter, and Spring (12 seasons total)
Physical Education classes are held during the academic day during the student's free period. These classes stress individual fitness with a goal of helping the student work toward developing the habits that lead to lifelong fitness. Activities are structured to assist students in developing teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Sport specific classes are designed for students who wish to concentrate on a particular sport. The student must participate or perform in that sport for Seabury Hall during the current academic year. Students in sport specific classes attend off-campus practices with their coach until their season begins, at which time they become a member of the athletic classes. Sport specific classes are available for swimming, tennis, and golf. The student must meet with the Athletic Director to have the sport specific class approved. A contract must be signed and approved by the off-campus coach, parents of the student, and the Athletic Director. Those students choosing Independent PE are making a commitment for the entire academic year. This class is designed for youngsters who would like to follow their passion in an activity that we do not offer at Seabury Hall. The student must move toward a competition or performance, have a coach, and be registered with the professional governing body for his/her particular sport. For more information on this option, please contact the Athletic Office. The deadline to apply for independent PE or sport specific classes is during the first week of school.
Athletic practices are held afterschool Monday-Friday, usually from 3:30-5:00 pm for Junior Varsity practice and 4:00-6:00 pm for Varsity. Basketball practice concludes at 6:30 pm on the team's "late day."
Dance classes meet after school; meeting times are determined by ability level.
