Dear Seabury Hall Community,
On behalf of the Seabury Hall Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce that Mr. Nicholas “Nick” Rodriguez will be Seabury Hall’s next Head of School beginning July 1, 2025.
Mr. Rodriguez has served as the Head of School at Corbett Preparatory School of IDS in Tampa, Florida and has held key leadership roles, including Head of School at Brandon Academy and Assistant Head of School and Director of Advancement at Carrollwood Day School, in Tampa, Florida. He is an exceptional administrator with a distinguished educational background, and his leadership is fueled by a deep passion for doing what is best for students. He is deeply aligned with Seabury Hall’s
mission and values, and we have every confidence that he will be a strong steward of our unique culture as he leads Seabury Hall into an exciting future.
Nick brings a wealth of experience in the management of successful schools, and we look forward to welcoming him to Maui and the Seabury Hall community. He began his educational career as a teacher, coach, and administrator at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Spring Hill, Florida. He holds a B.A. from the University of South Florida and a M.A.Ed. from Greenville University. His leadership is marked by a dedication to innovation, collaboration, and fostering a vibrant school culture where students and faculty thrive.
The eight-month search process to identify Nick as our next Head of School began with the support of consultants Tom Olverson and Jim Scott from RG 175. Tom and Jim played a vital role in shepherding the Board in an organized and thoughtful process. They brought us a pool of highly qualified candidates and helped us to ensure full community participation.
During the Board’s extensive review and evaluation process, in which many of you took part, it became evident that Nick truly understands and evinces Seabury Hall’s core values and that he possesses the vision and leadership skills to guide Seabury Hall forward through the next phase of its evolution. He earned the enthusiastic support of the Search Committee, and the Board voted unanimously in favor of his appointment.
“I am honored and excited to join the Seabury Hall community,” said
Rodriguez. “With its stellar reputation for academic rigor and dedication to nurturing the unique potential of each student, Seabury Hall embodies the values I deeply admire. I look forward to collaborating with the talented faculty, administration, students, and engaged parents to create a positive environment that fosters both personal and academic growth. My time at Corbett Prep has been incredibly rewarding, and I am now eager to embrace the opportunity to become part of the Maui community, leading Seabury Hall and contributing to its legacy of excellence in academics and character development.”
The Board wants to thank the entire Seabury Hall community for playing a crucial role in this process. The Board benefitted from thoughtful feedback from administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students and alumni who took the time to meet with our three finalists. Your input was essential to the Board’s deliberations, and we are heartened by the overwhelming level of support that Nick received.
We look forward to sharing more specific transition plans but for now,
please join us in welcoming Nick, his wife Melanie, and children Xavier and Sloane to the Seabury Hall family.
We also want to express our gratitude and appreciation to Maureen Madden for serving as Head of School for the past 6 years along with the support of her husband, Bruce. We recognize Mrs. Madden for all her effort, expertise, sacrifices and skill in guiding Seabury Hall and the many accomplishments, programs and activities over these years.
Thank you for your support of Seabury Hall. Let us all go into this new
year with gratitude, good will, and new beginnings.
R. Clay Sutherland
President
